GENERAL:

The Florida 500 Club has been in existence for quite some time.  We have just made

the necessary arrangements to publish a web site for the convenience of our current

and future bowlers.  Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us and

we will reply as quickly as possible.

HISTORY:

• The Florida 500 Club was organized in Ocala in May of 1990.  There were 61 bowlers at the meeting who voted on tournament rules, by-laws, and elected their first officers. 

• Liz Cocks was elected their first president and held that office until 2006 when she had to step down because of ill health.

• The first tournament was held in October of 1990 in Daytona Beach, with 322 bowlers.  By 1992 we had a membership of 1,300 and still growing.  At the 1992 tournament we had 570 bowlers with 267 signing in at our meeting.

• Different 500 clubs hosted tournaments and meetings over the years and new board members were elected to keep the club going.    By-laws have been changed to cover all issues as we keep growing.

• We have had many champions during these years and awarded them all with a special award.
